The course will equip you with the specialist knowledge and skills needed to enter the Animation industry in and wide and diverse range of specialist areas from Stop-motion, 2D Animation and 3D rendering. It will also give you a profound solid foundation to continue in Higher Education, securing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree. The course has been designed to meet the requirements of the Animation industry and is underpinned by the research and directly industry related experience of our staff.

 

Level 4 (Year 1 for full time students) develops the underpinning knowledge and skills in areas such as digital paint, rigging, storyboarding and script writing, all that you will need to develop as in areas of specialisation later in the course.

 

Level 5 (Year 2 for full time students) begins the process of specialisation in creative areas such as 3D Modelling, lighting for animation, moving image and work- related learning in the creative animation sector. You will acquire a broad knowledge base of the origins and practise of Animation, supported by our tutors.

 

The course operates on a modular basis that provided flexibility and choice. Most units count for 15 academic credits. Each credit taken equates to a total study time around 10 hours. Total study time includes scheduled teaching, independent study and assessment activity.

Full time students take units worth 60 credits per semester. All students take a total of 120 credits per level and 360 credits for the degree as a whole. Your overall grade for the course and your degree classification are based on the marks obtained for units taken at level 5.
