Course content
Across the span of the computing with IT pathway, you will be studying a broad range of skills, and disciplines that are designed to not only develop your knowledge and understanding, but to prepare you for industry and progression through the pathway.
During the process of completing the three levels of study, you will be able to cover topics that cover the broad spectrum of computing related topics that have been devised to help to focus your skills and abilities.
Progression through the levels would cover topics that could include:
- Using mobile IT devices: Set up, maintain, and utilise the applications of mobile devices effectively and efficiently.
- IT User fundamentals: Follow and understand the needs for safety and security practices in using IT systems with the needs of users in mind.
- Multimedia software: Plan the content and organise multimedia products that meet the needs of specific audiences and requirements.
- Bespoke software: Organising and collecting data in a manner that can be presented formally and processed correctly by bespoke systems.
- Database software: Enter, edit and organise data in a structured and logical manner within commonly used database programs.
- Spreadsheet software: Select and use appropriate tools and techniques to present spreadsheet information effectively using formulae and summarising in graphical manners.
Assessment methods
The majority of the modules covered across this pathway have internal assessed coursework, which could take on the form of written reports, formal presentations, developmental artefacts, or group project work.
Alongside this there may also be the need to undertake additional subjects if your Maths and English GCSEs are not up to a grade 4 standard or higher. This will require additional assessments in both coursework and examination processes.
More information will become available at the time of module study, and on the lead up to this stage.
