Library Information
Everything you need to know to use the College libraries
The libraries at Chichester and Brinsbury College have resources, recommended by lecturers to support college courses.
There is space to study and PCs, laptops and printing/photocopying are available.
Experienced staff are on hand to help with finding resources, research skills and using library services.
Use the library catalogue to find the resources in the library at https://catalogue.chigroup.ac.uk
Borrowing from the library
Just bring your student ID card and you will be able to borrow.
You can borrow up to 8 items at a time. We will stamp the return date on the label.
DVDs, CDs and magazines can be borrowed for one week and most of the books and other items are loaned for three weeks.
You will be able to renew your loans if no-one else has reserved them. Just contact us or ask at the desk. If you ask us for a PIN you can renew them online. (Please see the video below).
There is a fine of 5p per day for each item if you do not return or renew them on time.
The library can send you an email to remind you when your loans are due back.

Clinicalskills.net is an educational resource which supports training and best practice in clinical skills and patient care. It has over 250 illustrated guidelines on clinical skills procedures with links to references and national guidance.
The first time you log into Clinicalskills.net, you will need to register. Click on Log in at the top and type/select Chichester College from the drop-down menu under Login via Shibboleth (UKAMF) and then follow the instructions to register. When you access the resource again, you will just need to type/select Chichester College under Login via Shibboleth to log in. CORE is the world's largest collection of open access research papers, consisting of over 260 million papers. This service is provided for the academic community by JISC in partnership with the Open University.
Just click on the Core link or image above to access the resource; there's no need to log in.
Digimap is an online map service which offers access to Ordnance Survey, historical, geological, LiDAR and marine maps and spatial map data.
If you have not yet logged into Digimap for the academic year 21-22, you will need to register. To register, click on the orange popup User Registration Required, fill in the details and an email will be sent to you to verify your details. After clicking on the Verify email address in the email, you will need to agree licences. Select the Digimap collections you wish to access and agree to their licence agreements. You will only need to do this once for this academic year.

Referencing
Referencing your assignments is an important academic skill.
You need to give credit to any sources you use whether you quote them exactly or rewrite the information in your own words.
There are different systems and styles used for referencing. You should always use the system and style recommended by your lecturer.
Most courses in the college follow the APA system in the style used by the University of Portsmouth.

The Library has a number of resources available for leisure, including more than 700 feature films on DVD, a wide range of fiction, graphic novels and music CDs, covering many genres.
Feature Films
We have more than 700 feature films on DVD, arranged alphabetically by title and shelved against the back wall on the ground floor, next to the Literature and Dictionaries sections. You can search individually for a particular title on the library catalogue, or click the following link to see all our feature films:
There is also a printed list of the feature films, alphabetical by title, kept at the Issue Desk. You can borrow up to 4 DVDs at a time, for 7 days.
Fiction
We have more than 600 fiction titles available for loan, covering a wide range of genres, arranged by author surname on the ground floor on the shelves facing the Issue Desk. You can search the library catalogue for individual titles, or browse the list of titles available. Most fiction is available to borrow for 3 weeks.
Graphic Novels
We have more than 150 graphic novels available for loan, shelved on the ground floor just outside the quiet study room. You can search the library catalogue for individual titles, or browse the list of titles available. Most are available for loan for 3 weeks.
Music CDs
We have more than 500 music CDs available for loan, covering classical, dance, film scores, jazz, musicals, rock & pop, and world music. These are shelved according to the type of music, on the spinner shelves positioned around the library on the ground floor. You can search the library catalogue for individual titles, or browse the list of titles available. Music CDs can be borrowed for 7 days.
