  •  We look forward to meeting you. 

    Please bring your Photography portfolio and sketchbooks, or share an online digital portfolio before your interview date with beatrice.haverich@gbmc.ac.uk via g-drive. 

    You will be met by the course leader in the college foyer at your given interview time. We will have 1:1 interviews including reviewing your portfolio. During the interview process you will be given a guided tour of the College facilities and Student Services.

    We estimate that the whole process will be completed in approximately 2 hours, although many applicants will be able to leave well before this.

    You will be informed of the outcome of your portfolio review at the interview and by post, usually within fourteen days of the review date.

     

    Preparing for the L3 Foundation Diploma in Photography (Post A Level) Portfolio Review:

    Your portfolio should contain recent work. Usually, that would be all the work that you have been undertaking on your AS/A2 (or equivalent) program of study and any work that you have undertaken independently.

     

    Please ensure to include:

    • Recent sketchbooks/ digital slides from your AS/A2 projects

    • Examples of written work (ie. essays, critiques, evaluations, analysis)

    • A portfolio selection of your most successful work (no smaller than A3 or in digital format)

    • Any supporting work which you feel showcases your creativity and experimentation

    • A reference, outlining your attendance, punctuality, work ethic

     

    What we are looking for within your work:

    • Your ability to handle different photographic media, techniques and process

    • Inventiveness and experimentation

    • Ability to generate and develop ideas from concept through to realisation

    • Sketchbooks and notebooks demonstrating your ability to research, experiment and explore ideas through both visual and written approaches

    • An interest in historical and contemporary aspects of Photography, Art, Design and other general cultural issues

    • Energy, self-motivation, commitment and a genuine enthusiasm for the subject

    It is important that your portfolio is presented in such a way that it can be viewed easily, also digitally. Please ensure that you label your portfolio and sketch books clearly with your name. We regret that time does not permit the viewing of film or video. Instead please submit story boards and screen shots.
